Proofreading

Are you unsure of why you need a proofreader?

A proofreader sees errors such as missing words, improper usage, lack of flow or argument because they have been trained to recognize what is correct and what is incorrect. Proofreading is considered a specific skill that must be learned. It must be learned as it is the nature of the mind to believe what we have written is correct. When a person writes a draft and proofreads it themselves, they see it as correct. This is why the actual drafting of a document and the writing process are long and drawn out, to ensure that errors are found. Having a proofreader will help to remove a few stages from the writing process.

We can help you produce a document that is accurate in the following areas:

  • Grammar
  • Spelling
  • Usage
  • Sentence and paragraph structure
  • Line editing available in MS Word

There is no document too long or too short.

MS Word is used for proofreading as it enables the use of the "Track Changes" option. MS Word will put red lines over the words that we are correcting and will show the newly entered corrections, or it will give you the reasons for the edit in the margin notes. When you receive your proofread version, all you have to do is "Accept Changes" to have all the modifications saved. You will be able to preview each modification and read the margin notes to understand the corrections.

All documents are proofread by the same reader twice.

Many clients decide to have their documents proofread with a second set of eyes.  We are able to offer this service on your document once you have accepted the first edited copy. This option costs an additional $0.03 per word.
