I find it extremely humorous when I am looking at job listings in the writing, editing or teaching fields, and there are errors.  The text usually emphasizes the need to "have superb editing and proofreading skills".  I laugh wholeheartedly at this, they obviously need my help.  At this point is it OK for me to point out the error or two in their posting?  I should tell them that they should hire me on the spot!  Perhaps that it a little beyond confident.  However, they still need help and I still want to proofread or teach, so how on earth do I get that job without stating the obvious?
